Day 2 started off as usual. I am trying to get myself into somewhat of a routine, particularly since we are generally quite cooped up here on the isolation ward. I think some schedule at least keeps you focused on the big prize.
As far as symptoms from the first two days of chemo, they have been tolerable. I wouldn't say great, but definitely tolerable. Everyone seems to react a bit differently to chemotherapy, and since they are using such a high dose lymphoblative regimen on me, I couldn't really expect any different. I do have to give the staff here credit. They completely mitigate the more serious stuff. Yes, my stomach feels off, but I don't feel like I'll throw up. Yes, I have a headache, but just like I had a couple beers last night. All in all, so far it feels like I've got a bit of a flu bug. This I can, and will, handle!
On a totally different note, having the capacity to be in constant contact with home has been wonderful for grounding me and keeping me focused going forward. I Skype with Tanya and the kids daily, and am in constant contact with mom, dad, Debs, Dee, and Chris. Thank you to all of my friends, relatives, staff and patients who have sent emails, FB messages and blog replies of encouragement. It is sincerely felt, and highly motivating for me on this journey!
I would like to give a special thank you to someone very close to me. Does anyone recognise this guy?
